Yes, I know, I'm breaking my little vow at the moment. But I'm ahead on my studies and whatnot, so I figured I deserved some sketchy time.
And yes, there's a story that goes with this. My dad's the current Sunday School teacher at church, and today's lesson involved the frequent admonition to "pray always." And he brought up the point that there are some people who take this a little too far, to the point of asking the Lord to decide what color socks they should wear on a given day. As one of the other people put it, "He really doesn't care."
And yeah, I figure I might as well try putting this up as a print. Watch a bunch of atheists buy it and misinterpret the whole meaning.
always agreed with this. I'm not a deeply religious person myself. my opinions on religion, and even whether or not I believe in God, changes on an almost hourly basis.
But I only pray about matters of grave importance. We're talking about life and death situations, or situations where the outcome will affect a person for the rest of their life in a major way. Anything less is a waste of God's time.
look at it this way. praying is like sending God an e-mail. if you e-mail him every day he might read it, but he might start to skim. e-mail him more than once a day and you start to get annoying. e-mail him once a week or once a month at a service, confessional, or what have you, it's like a newsletter, something might be interesting or what naught, but there's too much material to go through all at once. e-mail once in a blue moon, with only the important parts included, and he'll actually open it and care what it says.
of course I'm running on the conjecture that God manages prayer the way I manage my e-mail. but you know what they say, "God fashioned man in his own image. Man, being a gentleman, returned the favor"
That's one where I'll have to differ in opinion with you. I look at God as a loving father who likes to have His children talk to him often, even if it's just updates on the generally middling stuff that fills most people's days. But like any father, He probably gets a little annoyed when His children stop taking the initiative at all in their lives and ask Him for help in any and every little detail they encounter.
But then, that's sort of how my parents are; they're more than willing to listen to whatever I have to say, as long as it's not one more request for help I shouldn't really need.

Religion is one of those things people will never agree on. as long as everyone can believe what they want without being beaten up for it, physically or verbally, we all win.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

I'm sorry but the amount of win in this statement is overwhelming, and I want to express it in the form of an emoticon.
